622,800 invested in Japan’s future by THE J TEAM & FRIENDS IN CHARITY

“For some months now we have been discussing how to replace the outside play apparatus for our children. The largest challenge is the funding for this. With your donation we can now make our upgrade plans happen. Thank  you very much.” These were the sentiments shared by Seibi Home orphanage in Tokyo when THE J TEAM & FRIENDS IN CHARITY presented them with their 50% of funds raised in the Silent Auction for Japan.

Bids on this event closed on 13th July as partners and gathered in Tokyo to mark the fifth anniversary of THE J TEAM Japan-specialist DMC. This celebration event brought like-minded collaborators together to raise a stunning 622,800JPY for Seibi Home in Tokyo and for Seikazoku-no-Ie orphanage in Osaka. Both have a soft spot in the heart of THE J TEAM, and both have worked with us on CSR projects over the history of our Team.

Seibi Home, Tokyo
In 2010 THE J TEAM and a huge group of Australians descended upon Seibi Home to join them for a raucous school festival of international exchange and sumo. The school gives professional extra care to children with learning difficulties, and those with no parents, to help them prepare for life as adults in Japan’s extremely conformist society. For those interested in making a deep impact on the future of Japan, join us for more interaction with Seibi.

Seikazoku-no-Ie, Osaka
One of our longest standing friends, Seikazoku-no-Ie, helped us with a classic bike construction team building project at the start of THE J TEAM’s adventure. This was a completely alien concept to a Japanese orphanage and one that Seikazoku-no-Ie seized with both hands to become a deeply meaningful exchange for Australian sponsor-company, children and the staff. We offer imaginative ways to continue efforts to build on this long-standing relationship.

THE J TEAM is celebrated its first five years of success in June and July 2014. We took an analytical look a back and a strategic look forward through our Silent Auction for Japan. We thank all partners that provided lots for the auction. And we are most grateful to the bidders – many of whom later told us of their personal connection to the two homes.

May each and every youngster enjoy their share of the donation, and we look forward to the next five years with you!

Monitoring the Volcanic Eruption at Mt. Ontake

The 27th September eruption of Mt. Ontake on the border of Gifu and Nagano prefectures has made world headlines. THE J TEAM is constantly monitoring the situation. Currently no projects managed by the TEAM are in the area, and Japan’s most popular event areas – Tokyo – Osaka/Kyoto corridor are not effected by the eruption.
